Indiana Starhenge Megalithic Stone Circles Project

Picture
The Indiana Starhenge Megalithic Stone Circles Project will create a unique public art and agritourism destination in the Borden and Starlight region through the installation of monumental standing stone circles. Inspired by ancient formations, these sculptural elements honor the birth of agriculture and the rise of civilization, recognizing farming as the foundation of modern society while symbolizing the cycles of life and the interconnectedness of all living things.
A key feature of the project includes 16 hand-sculpted stones created by local artist David J. Ruckman, showcasing regional craftsmanship and artistic excellence. Engraved historical elements paired with galaxy-inspired imagery will blend local heritage with a universal narrative, reflecting early agricultural practices and their connection to the natural cycles of earth and sky. Visitors will explore walkway tiles and sculpted stones that tell the story of the Borden Valley—from its first settlers to the development of agriculture and its lasting impact on civilization.
Designed as an immersive and educational experience, the installation will invite reflection, engage the community, and enhance regional identity. The project has requested support through READI 2.0 Arts and Culture funding.
